The Engie / Meridiam consortium has just won the Senegalese tender for the construction of two solar parks cumulating 60 MW thanks to a very low proposed tariff: less than 4 c € / kWh, by tender launched by the Commission Regulation of the Electricity Sector (CRSE).
ENGIE and its investment partner Meridiam had already won last year two PV projects (Senergy and TenMerina) of 30 MWp each in the country.
Both projects are part of the Scaling Solar initiative, jointly led by the Senegalese authorities and the International Finance Corporation (IFC, member of the World Bank Group) in Senegal. These projects are located in Kahone, in the Kaolack region and in Touba-Kaël, in the Diourbel region.
ENGIE and Meridiam will each hold a 40% stake in the project company. The Senegalese sovereign fund, FONSIS, will also be a 20% shareholder. The construction and operation of the plants will be directed and executed by ENGIE.
In Senegal, ENGIE is already involved in the Senergy project, a 30 MW solar photovoltaic power plant located in the city of Santhiou Mekhé, and the Ten Merina project, a 29.5 MW solar photovoltaic power plant in the Thiès region near Dakar. . Both projects are currently in operation.
In 2017, ENGIE entered into a partnership with ANER, the National Renewable Energy Agency of Senegal, which aims to accelerate the development of renewable energies in the country.
The Group is also implementing solar energy solutions for rural households in Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon. ENGIE has been selected on the Regional Train Express (TER) project in Dakar, in partnership with Thales, for the design and production of infrastructure and systems, with a contract worth 225 million euros.
