After the Akon Lighting Africa project launched in 2014, the Senegalese-American star, Akon, continues its journey across the continent, with a new vision.
It launches, indeed, a new cryptocurrency named Akoin, and intended to boost the African economies, to integrate the youth of the contains in this global economic movement that passes through cryptocurrency and blockchain.
“Blockchain and crypto can be saviors for Africa, in many ways because it gives power to people and brings security to the monetary system, while allowing people to use it to advance and not to allow a government to develop an economy that leaves them on the side of the road, “says Akon.
The international star also reveals that a city called ‘Akon Crypto City’ is being created. A futuristic city that could extend over 2000 hectares, offered by President Macky Sall, near Dakar, 5 minutes from the new international airport.
According to the singer, “Akon Crypto City offers the opportunity to undertake in cryptocurrency; an unprecedented opportunity for brands, companies and qualified people to do incredible things in this closed environment. ”
He sees great success for this project, which follows the Lighting Africa initiative, launched in 2014, which aims to develop and implement solar-powered equipment and infrastructure in Africa.
