The PSA Group announced on Tuesday, September 4, the decision to double the capacity of its production site in Kenitra to 200,000 vehicles per year from 2020. This additional capacity is a decisive factor in accelerating the development of the PSA Group’s ecosystem in Morocco, say group leaders at a press conference.
As of 2019, the Kenitra plant will produce engines and vehicles and will have an initial production capacity of 100,000 vehicles / year. It will rely on the fabric of Moroccan suppliers to achieve from the start a local integration rate of 60% and 80% in the long term.
The Moroccan Minister of Industry, Moulay Hafid El Alamy, does not hide his satisfaction: “The PSA ecosystem is unfolding with a sustained pace of achievements and important achievements. The network of players is diversifying with the setting up of new equipment manufacturers, the integration rate is gaining in depth, the volume of local purchasing is growing and an R & D ecosystem is being built. ”
The minister added that “the project is a real engine for developing a sector that is performing well.”
This decision attests to the dynamism of the PSA Group in the region and particularly in Morocco, said Jean Christophe Quémard, Executive Vice President of the Middle East and Africa region of the Group.
