The Board of Directors of the West African Development Bank (BOAD) intends to release an envelope of 20 billion CFA francs for the construction of social housing in Benin, on 9 new projects of about 92.5 billion CFA francs in 6 countries.
The announcement was made at the end of the 110th session of the council held in the Ivorian capital on 19 September 2018.
This is for Benin, a project of servicing and construction of 944 social and economic housing in Ouedo, in the Commune of Abomey Calavi.
The project is divided into two parts, namely the servicing of an area of 18.75 ha of the site located in Ouédo and the construction of 944 social and economic housing to be leased to the beneficiaries.
The overall objective is to contribute to the improvement of the living environment and the reduction of poverty in the targeted municipality.
This support from Boad aims to provide housing for about 7,300 people and to promote new ways of accessing housing for middle-income populations.
