At Jorf Lasfar, the OCP Group has therefore started the implementation of SULFACID technology at the level of two sulfuric acid production lines. The deployment of this technology is also in the construction phase at the Safi site.
This new system, which can be described as first in the manufacturing industry
of sulfuric acid, required an investment of 550 million DH for the
two OCP Group industrial platforms. SULFACID technology marks
a historic turning point in terms of reducing gas emissions by around 98%.
The SULFACID program is part of the realization of the ambition
OCP Group’s Environmental Leadership and Circular Economy. other
environmental innovations and projects are planned.
INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
This technological feat is the result of a partnership between OCP Group and the
provider of technology, a multinational expert in the field of
treatment of gaseous discharges. This partnership has been strengthened by the expertise of the teams
OCP in the production of sulfuric acid.
The SULFACID solution is a technology adapted to the sulfuric acid manufacturing process, a first in the world. Indeed, it is an incorporation of an additional gas washing system, designed to cut down the SO2 gas.
The system recovers the gases released by the contact unit and converts them into Sulfuric Acid (H2SO4), reused in the production line, in a circular economy logic.
This system marks a historic turning point in terms of reducing the emissions of this gas by going from values of the order of 600 ppm to values of less than 15 ppm (ie a reduction of 98%).
