- The Federation of National Associations of Charter Brokers and Maritime Agents (FONASBA) held, on Friday, October 19, 2018 in the city of Cancún in Mexico, its Annual General Meeting.
- At the end of this meeting Mr. Aziz Mantrach, was elected president of the federation for the next three years (2018-2021).
- FONASBA has been working since 1969, supervising the profession and defending the interests of international shipping agents.
- The Federation of National Associations of Charter Brokers and Maritime Agents (FONASBA) held, on Friday, October 19, 2018 in the city of Cancún in Mexico, its Annual General Meeting. At the end of this meeting, Mr. Aziz Mantrach was elected President of the Federation for the next three years. (2018-2021)
After his election Mr. Mantrach received the badge of his predecessor Mr. John A. Foord FICS. He said: “I am particularly proud to be elected to lead an association that is considered the standard bearer of the profession internationally. I pledge to continue the excellent work done by Mr. Foord and the Past Presidents while ensuring the continued development of the Federation. We will spare no effort to further boost this federation in terms of influence and extension of the scope of representation on the international level.
This new appointment is in addition to the various positions occupied by Mr. Mantrach in several Moroccan professional associations. At Asmex, he is vice-president and chairs the logistics committee of the Association. He is also the president of the Professional Association of Maritime Agents, Consignees of Ships and Charters of Morocco (APRAM).
As a reminder, FONASBA brings together 56 countries, represented by some 50 associations around the world. She has been working since 1969, supervising the profession and defending the interests of international shipping agents. It also enjoys consultative status with the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the World Customs Organization (WCO).
