The third regular meeting of the Board of Directors of the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA-Côte d’Ivoire) was held on Tuesday, November 06, 2018, at the TIAMA Hotel, under the chairmanship of Mr. Patrick ACHI, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire.
The Chairman of the Board, Mr Patrick ACHI, opened the meeting by welcoming the members of the Board of Directors and thanking them for their effective presence.
The meeting continued with the presentation of the new Director General of MCA-Côte d’Ivoire, Ms. Florence RAJAN-HAUDEBERT, selected through a rigorous, competitive and transparent selection process. Ms. RAJAN-HAUDEBERT will assume her functions as CEO of MCA-Côte d’Ivoire in early January 2019.
At the meeting, the members of the Board of Directors decided on the provisions relating to the governance of MCA-Côte d’Ivoire as well as various administrative matters including the rules of procedure, the draft staff contract, the revision of the procurement plan. This meeting allowed to present the progress of the Program. During the executive session of the Board of Directors, issues related to the operationalization of MCA-Côte d’Ivoire were discussed, including the status of the recruitment process.
Present at this meeting of the Board of Directors, in addition to the Minister Patrick ACHI, the Representative of the Prime Minister, Secretary of State for Budget and State Portfolio, Mr. Moussa SANOGO, Deputy Director of Cabinet of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Simplice DION, Deputy Director of the Minister of National Education, Technical Education and Vocational Training, Mr. Raoul KONE, Director of Cabinet of the Minister of Transport, Mr. Benjamin SORO, the Director of Cabinet of the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Adama COULIBALY, the Director of Cabinet of the Minister of Equipment and Road Maintenance, Mr. Aristide YAO, Master Simone ASSA-AKOH of the Association of Women Lawyers of Côte d’Ivoire representing the Civil Society, Mr. Nabil AJAMI of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Côte d’Ivoire and Mr. Guy ABBY NOGUES of the CGECI, to us two representatives of the Private Sector. Mr. Mahmoud BAH, Resident Country Director, non-voting observer member, also participated in this meeting.
MCA-Côte d’Ivoire, established by ordinance dated December 14, 2017, is an independent entity charged with ensuring, on behalf of the Government of Côte d’Ivoire, the monitoring, management and implementation of the Compact-Côte d’Ivoire program. Ivory.
As a reminder, on November 7, 2017, the United States Government Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and Côte d’Ivoire signed a compact of $ 524.7 million. The Compact includes grants and assistance from US taxpayers to be implemented over a five-year period (2019-2024) and was signed after Côte d’Ivoire undertook reforms to meet stringent standards good governance, from the fight against corruption to respect for democratic rights.
