Renault Maroc Group has announced that it has acquired the 20% stake of the French group PSA in Somaca, the factory of the diamond brand based in Casablanca. The transaction is part of “its commitment to developing the automotive industry,” he says.
The announcement comes amid a crisis marked by the judicial investigation around former CEO Carlos Ghosn sued for breach of trust. A case that does not seem to have affected the good shape of the company in Morocco where, at the end of 2018, it achieved historical sales (more than 75,400) while consolidating its position as market leader (42 , 5% cumulative share compared to 41.8% in 2017).
Founded in 1959, Somaca is Renault’s factory in Casablanca, the economic capital of Morocco. She has been producing models of the brand and the Logan, Sandero and Sandero models and the Dacia range since 2005.
