The general management of the Autonomous Port of Douala (PAD) has just launched a call for limited international consultation for the renovation, modernization, operation and maintenance of the container terminal at the port of Douala-Bonabéri.
This call concerns the five companies shortlisted under an International Call for Expressions of Interest (AIMI) launched in January 2018. This is the list that should be the consortium to replace the consortium Bolloré-APM Terminals through its subsidiary local, the Douala International Terminal (DIT) which manages this infrastructure since 2005 and whose fifteen years of concession end this year. These are CMA Terminals, based in Marseille, France, Emiratie Dubai Port World, Hutchison Port Investments LTD, a company registered in the Cayman Islands; the Saudi Red Sea Gate-way Terminal, and Terminals Investment LTD, a company based in Genesis, Switzerland.
In a press release dated March 21, 2019, the general direction of the PAD invites these companies to submit their various offers, no later than June 18, 2019 with a bond of 100 million FCFA. At the end of this consultation process, “only one of the five aforementioned port operators will be awarded the concession contract for the renovation, modernization, operation and maintenance of the Douala-Bonabéri port container terminal”.
The Bolloré Group was not selected among the five preselected companies, which gave rise to various reactions in Cameroon, especially as this French firm was on the list of starting a dozen companies. With a presence in Africa, managing no less than 17 ports, Bolloré recently won the concession for the new deep-water port of Kribi.
