After one year of operation, the Kribi Port Container Terminal (KCT), a company controlled by the Bolloré-CHEC-CMA CGM consortium, claimed the handling of nearly 165,000 20-foot equivalent containers, covering activities related to import-export and transhipment. Activities that should grow this year with the announced arrival of Maersk and other shipowners, thus enhancing the competitiveness and attractiveness of the port of Kribi.
In this perspective, the multi-purpose terminal of the port of Kribi managed for a while by a consortium of Cameroonian operators grouped within the company Kribi Port Multiple Operators (KPMO) after the bankruptcy of French Necotrans fell bankrupt after winning the contract The concession on this terminal should also improve its performance, especially since the Cameroonian government awarded in June 2019 the management and operation of this terminal to Philippin International Container Terminal Services.
According to information, ongoing investments are expected to improve activities with projected traffic of two million tonnes of goods by 2020, and more than 4 million tonnes of goods per year with the establishment of a second wharf.
