The first case of Coronavirus at the United Nations (UN) in Dakar, Senegal was confirmed. The United Nations is working closely with the Government of Senegal and the World Health Organization (WHO) on prevention and preparedness in the country.
The staff returned from a trip to London on 24 February. The emergency protocol was activated, and the patient is in a hospital in the capital. In line with confidentiality requirements with respect to the patient’s condition, no further information will be given.
An investigation by epidemiologists from the Ministry of Health is currently under way to test people recently in contact with the patient in accordance with the protocol developed by the Ministry.
