US insurance giant American International Group (AIG) announced Tuesday, October 20, that it had appointed Mohamed Ali Bouabane as CEO of AIG GCC and North Africa. The new director will lead operations in several AIG countries in the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar, Lebanon and Morocco. Mr. Bouabane, will also oversee end-to-end service and support, including sales activities.
Reacting to the appointment, the official said: “AIG has a long history in the region, we have a deep understanding of our markets and excellent relationships with our business partners.” He added: “The combination of these two factors will allow us to continue to have targeted strategies tailored to the needs of our geographic areas. I am particularly excited about our reinsurance strategy outside of the DIFC which will complement our direct insurance operations in the region “.
Mr. Bouabane assumes his new role after having been the Asia-Pacific manager of Accident & Health, Travel and Service programs at AIG. Previously, he managed AIG’s operations in Eastern Europe and Asia-Pacific, with primary responsibilities for the development and execution of digital strategies.
A graduate in applied physics, he joined AIG in 2007, coming from Blue Cross Blue Shield in Canada. As a reminder, AIG is a leading global insurance organization.
