The General Delegation for the Rapid Entrepreneurship of Women and Youth (DER / FJ) structured 19 billion FCFA ($ 37 million) for the cashew nut campaign. In this amount, an envelope of 15 billion FCFA is devoted to the campaign itself and 4 billion FCFA to production. The announcement was made on May 18, 2021 from the Ziguinchor region, in southern Senegal, by the Minister Delegate General of the DER / FJ Papa Amadou Sarr, during a regional development committee (CRD) dedicated to the launch of the 2021 cashew nut marketing campaign. Chaired by the Minister of Trade and SMEs, Aminata Assome Diatta, the CRD recorded the presence of the governor of Ziguinchor, Guedj Diouf and important personalities from the administration and the private sector. Concretely, the line of financing of the DER was structured in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and SMEs and partner institutions (BNDE, LBA, EcoBank, PAMECAS, etc.).
The funds will be disbursed in the form of a loan for the benefit of local actors in the sector, at the rate of 60 million for inputs, research and development; 2 billion for production; 135 million CFA for producer cooperatives; 1.2 billion for storage in hangars; 1 billion for processing; 15 billion for marketing; 100 million for technical support, contracting and training. In addition to the launch of the 2021 cashew campaign, the audience was also presented with the results of the actions of the DER / FJ for the 2020 cashew campaign where the DER was also involved through a financing line of 12 billion Franc CFA. For this last 2020 season, the overall volume exported is estimated at 40,145 tonnes, i.e. a financial value of 22 billion 837 million CFA francs. To date, only 60% of the 12 billion CFA francs disbursed in 2020 have been reimbursed by the beneficiaries.
