The Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) through its training center, the West African Center for Training and Banking Studies (COFEB), in partnership with AFREXIMBANK and the international factoring network FCI, announces the organization of a series of three (3) international webinars on the theme “Factoring and Financing of receivables”.
Scheduled for July 13, 14 and 15, 2021, these webinars aim to build the capacities of actors involved in factoring activities in Africa, namely central banks, credit institutions and microfinance institutions. To this end, a specific session will be devoted to regulatory authorities while training will be provided to each of the categories of taxable persons, which are credit institutions and microfinance institutions.
The topics of these webinars will focus on the opportunities and challenges of factoring, the techniques for structuring factoring transactions and their conditions for success. These sessions, which will take place online via the Zoom platform, in French and in English, will also offer credit institutions and microfinance institutions the opportunity to appropriate the key provisions of the Draft Uniform Law on factoring in WAMU, adopted in December 2020.
The official launching ceremony of these webinars, chaired by the Governor of the BCEAO, Mr. Tiémoko Meyliet KONE, will take place on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 from 1 p.m. UT. It will be immediately followed by the session dedicated to regulatory authorities. The training for banks and financial institutions will take place on Wednesday, July 14, 2021. The training reserved for microfinance institutions will take place on Thursday, July 15, 2021 and will close the series of trainings.
The facilitation of these meetings will be provided by experts from AFREXIMBANK, FCI and BCEAO.
About one thousand (1000) participants are expected among whom, central bank officials from ECOWAS, CEMAC, Maghreb and Southern Africa, executives from banking and financial systems and microfinance institutions on the continent. High-ranking officials from partner institutions will also be present, including the Secretary General of FCI and the General Director of the Intra-African Commercial Initiative of AFREXIMBANK, President of the Africa Section of FCI. As a reminder, FCI brings together companies whose aim is to facilitate international trade by promoting factoring and related financial services, in which AFREXIMBANK plays a leading role.
