Previously announced in Kigali (Rwanda), the second edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2021) will finally take place in Durban (South Africa), in the province of KwaZulu-Natal from November 15 to 21, 2021, by decision of the Advisory Board chaired by Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“The relocation of IATF2021 to Durban saves us time on the schedule and will allow African countries and businesses, as part of their recovery strategy, to take full advantage of the trade fair, which is also an important element. of the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area within the framework of which trade has started this year, ”said the president of the advisory council.
He also thanked the South African government and the provincial government of KwaZulu-Natal for their diligent efforts to house Iatf2021. “Having carried out a comprehensive assessment of the actions taken by the AU and Afreximbank under the African Vaccine Procurement Working Group (Avatt) as well as other initiatives to deliver vaccines to the continent, we believe that ‘a significant number of people will have been vaccinated by November, which will allow us to organize a successful event.’
For KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala, his province is honored to host this premier event. Especially since KwaZulu-Natal is implementing its own plan for reconstruction, recovery and economic transformation. “Given the plans announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa with regard to the deployment of the COVID-19 vaccination program in South Africa, we will be ready to welcome our brothers and sisters to Durban in November for this intra-African trade fair (Iatf2021) , ”Prime Minister Zikalala said.
As a reminder, the trade event was initially scheduled to be held from September 6 to 12, 2021, before a date change last March due to the evolution of the pandemic.
