In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Public Treasury collected more than USD 945 million in May and June 2021, in execution of the government’s triple strategy of mobilizing revenue through the strengthening of control mechanisms at all levels, rationalization expenditure and the promotion of transparency in the management of public finances.
According to data communicated by the Minister of Finance, Nicolas Kazadi, in the Council of Ministers on July 2, 2021, the financial authorities mobilized 938.5 billion Congolese francs (454 million USD at the average budget rate of 2067 FC per US dollar) in June 2021, i.e. an achievement rate of 129% compared to forecasts.
With regard to the month of May, the revenues mobilized amounted to CDF 1,016.4 billion (approximately USD 492 million) against a monthly schedule of CDF 859.5 billion, according to recent data from the Central Bank. of Congo (BCC). For their part, expenditure was executed to the tune of 903.2 billion CDF (450 million USD) against a forecast amount of 789.8 billion CDF (354 million USD), while the State recorded a surplus of 113.1 billion CDF (56.550 million USD), carried by the payment of the tax of the first installment during this tax deadline.
As a reminder, the revenues of the various financial authorities in the country increased by 60% in April 2021, with an achievement of CDF 3,671 billion (around USD 1.8 billion) over the first 4 months of the year, against CDF 2,262 .174.694.280 between January and April 2020.
