Designer of the ministerial city of Diamniado, a new town located 30 km from Dakar, the capital of Senegal, the Envol Immobilier group, through its subsidiary Envol Partenariats CI, has just delivered the first phase of the University of San Pedro. There are two amphitheatres (500 seats and 200 seats), a health center and work rooms (TD).
The university campus, the library building and other buildings are under construction. Built on an area of 302 hectares, the university center should receive 20,000 students at the end of its four phases of development.
The re-entry of higher education institutions was held on October 19 in these brand new premises, in the presence of Adama Diawara, Ivorian Minister of Higher Education, Saliou Touré, former Minister of Higher Education, Coulibaly Ousmane, Prefect of San Pedro, Moctar Thiam, CEO of Envol Immobilier Senegal, Macky Dembelé, Coordinator of the PDU, CEO of Wietec Côte d’Ivoire and Mené Meïté, president of the University of San Pedro.
In all, a staff of 450 high school graduates have been assigned to this new establishment for the 2021-2022 academic year. The 450 students are among the 3,000 expected in the first phase. The University of San Pedro provides innovative training in four areas, namely the mother science department, the agriculture department, fishery and agro-industrial resources, the logistics department, tourism, hotel and catering, and ‘UFR health sciences. In addition, the University of San Pedro has two engineering schools, namely the School of Shipbuilding and the School of Building and Public Works.
As a reminder, the laying of the first stone of the University of San Pedro was carried out on November 30, 2018 by Prime Minister Feu Amadou Gon Coulibaly as part of the University Decentralization Program (PDU). This project, carried out in PPP mode (no debt of the State of Côte d’Ivoire), is part of the new approach to financing public infrastructure.
