The West African Center for Banking Training and Studies (COFEB), a training and research center of the BCEAO, and HEC Paris organized on Thursday, November 11 in Dakar (Senegal), a ceremony to award the certificates of the first 2021 edition of the Course on strategic banking management.
This course entitled “Certificate of Executive Strategic Banking Management (CEMSTRAT)” is part of the capacity building of managers of banks and financial institutions in the Union and the sub-region in the areas of management and banking strategy. .
In total, 46 recipients (administrators, general managers, etc.) from banks and financial institutions in the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) area received their sesame which should now enable them to be better equipped to face the evolution of the financial market.
“We came out enriched by the CEMSTRAT training. The teaching received during this course will undoubtedly allow us to bring added value to our respective structures and institutions”, declared the first representative of the participants, Oulimata Ndiassé Ndiaye, responsible of the UMOA-Titres State Council and Assistance Department.
For her part, Armelle Dufour, director of international strategic projects at HEC Paris, indicated that the development of the activities of a bank, of a company, does not only hold business plans or marketing reports but it is eminently linked to a higher purpose, namely a good training of its executives.
In his speech, Fernand Aboutou, Director of Education and Training Programs – COFEB / BCEAO, returned to the objective of this program. For the manager, the development of this CEMSTRAT certificate is part of the overall review of training programs following the reorganization of COFEB in November 2019.
The vision of the central bank authorities, he stressed, is to make the center an international benchmark in terms of training and research, capable of supporting players in the banking sector in Africa in the development incompetence.
Since 2013, several hundred executives have successfully followed the certification programs in General Management of Banking Activities and Human Resources Management, offered jointly by COFEB and HEC Paris. Note that the 2022 edition will be launched in February.
Created in 1977, the main mission of COFEB is to strengthen the capacity of civil servants in public administrations in WAEMU member states, executives from credit institutions operating in the Union and staff from other central banks in French-speaking African countries.
