The turnover of the Société Tunisienne d’Email (SOTEMAIL), which specializes in the production and marketing of ceramic tiles and porcelain stoneware for floor and wall coverings, recorded an increase of 31% at the end of the financial year 2021 compared to that of 2020, announced the managers of this company based in Monastir (162 km south of Tunis).
The total of this turnover has indeed increased from 47.560 million dinars as of December 31, 2020 to 62.236 million dinars as of December 31, 2021, an increase of 14.676 million dinars. This makes the leaders of SOTEMAIL say that their company achieved an extraordinary performance during the year 2021 in a very difficult global environment. According to them, this performance affected both the local market (+17%) and the export market (+1452%). “The increase in export volumes and turnover during 2021 reflects the internationalization strategy followed by the general management, which is mainly based on the penetration of new markets and the consolidation of the brand awareness through participation in several prestigious events>>, they say. They add that the 2021 financial year was marked by the resumption of orders from the Libyan market, the penetration of new markets like the American and Emirati markets as well as the growth in turnover from the European market.
Regarding the company’s production, it increased by 30% to 64.184 million tonnes against 49.298 million tonnes for the 2020 financial year.
The investments made by SOTEMAIL however recorded a sharp drop of 71% with an achievement which stands at 1.384 million dinars against 4.735 million dinars in 2020.
According to company officials, bank commitments (balance sheet commitments) as of December 31, 2021 amounted to 32.085 million dinars against a total of 36.098 million dinars as of December 31, 2020, marking a significant drop of 11%. They also estimate that long- and medium-term debt represents a percentage of 65% of the total balance sheet commitment as of December 31, 2021.
