Mr. Amadou Hott, Minister of Economy, Planning and Cooperation, signed two financing agreements with Dr. Sidi Ould TAH Director General of the Arab Bank for Development in Africa (BADEA).
These agreements relate to the Emergency Access Roads Program and the Urban Modernization Project of four municipalities, for a total amount of 75 million dollars, or 45 billion FCFA.
The ceremony took place this Saturday, March 5, in Khartoum, Sudan, in the presence of Ministers MM. Mansour Faye, in charge of Infrastructure, Land Transport and Accessibility and Samba Ndiobène Kâ in charge of Community Development, Social and Territorial Equity.
The Emergency Program for Access Roads worth 50 million dollars, or 30 billion FCFA aims to open up the project areas (Roads Bambey – Baba Garage – Keur Samba Kane – Toubatoul and Diattar – Halwar), support their economic and social development, enhance vehicle traffic safety and reduce transport costs.
As for the Urban Modernization Project of four municipalities (Fatick, Kaffrine, Kédougou and Oussouye) worth 25 million dollars or 15 billion FCFA, it aims to strengthen infrastructure and access to basic social services. This is an important project for consolidating the achievements of decentralization.
After having magnified the fruitful cooperation between BADEA and Senegal, Minister Amadou Hott indicated that “the financing granted by BADEA to Senegal has enabled the realization of important projects, particularly in the sectors of agriculture, water, sanitation and health. In addition, there is the various support from BADEA in the form of technical assistance, an area in which it is decisive and provides qualitative assistance greatly appreciated by our States”.
BADEA also participates in strengthening the financing of the national private sector through lines of credit granted to local banks.
On the sidelines of this ceremony, the Senegalese authorities took stock with BADEA of Senegal’s portfolio of priority projects, particularly in the two aforementioned sectors. Thus, key projects such as the Dakar Saint-Louis toll highway and the 120MW power plant in Malicounda were discussed.
