The 2018 edition of the iF DESIGN AWARD, a world-renowned design award, has just awarded the iF Award 2018 to the designer Hicham Lahlou for his project Concept “M” – metal awning of the toll station of the motorway. bypass of the city of Rabat for Motorways of Morocco in the discipline “Architecture”, category “Urban / Landscape”.
The iF DESIGN AWARD is organized every year by the iF International Forum Design GmbH, based in Hannover, Germany and considered as the oldest independent design organization in the world.
The “M” project concept attracted a jury of 63 members – composed of independent experts from all over the world thanks to the originality of its form, conceived as a giant mechanic naturally integrated in a perspective in earth and sky, like wings of an airplane, the execution of this metal awning, in the form of the extended letter M, representing the first letter of the name of the kingdom, was a real technical achievement that required the use of state-of-the-art technologies, fruit of know-how hundred percent Moroccan.
This exceptional work is the work of the Moroccan designer Hicham Lahlou, who designed it, and Inter Tridim, a company specializing in metal structures that executed the awning for the Autoroutes autoroutes du Maroc. With its innovative concept and the quality of its execution, this metal awning has no similar, not only on Moroccan soil, but in Africa.

Hicham Lahlou, flag bearer of the Moroccan national design, one of the great leaders of the African and Arab design abroad and emblematic figure of the new generation design, he is a recognized personality on the African continent and in the Arab world, he signs big projects and collections for prestigious international brands, such as DAUM, Ecart International, Lip, Aquamass … The Africa Design Award & Days project (ADA, ADD) that he founded in 2014 that he leads as a leader African Design.
