The mission of the International Monetary Fund opened on November 7 and will look for ten days on the Economic Recovery Plan (PRE) around the Minister of Economy, Jean-Marie Ogandaga.
This visit comes as Gabon prepares the third IMF review led by the head of mission for Gabon, Boileau Loko with the relevant Gabonese administrations.
The IMF delegation’s main objective is to take stock of recent economic developments in the country, but also the outlook for the year 2018-2019.
For Boileau Loko, “our common goal with the Gabonese government is to contribute to the revival of the national economy so that Gabon can continue to have strong and inclusive growth. This could have a relatively large effect on poverty reduction.
Mr. Ogandaga said that “in the context of this work, it is question that we review all the problems of our commitments vis-à-vis the International Monetary Fund”.
Like most CEMAC countries, Gabon is closely monitored by the IMF as part of a program, combining financial and technical aspects, aimed at restoring macroeconomic balances and ensuring sound growth.
