Bolloré Ports has placed an order for two mobile port cranes which will strengthen the handling capacities of Tincan Island Container Terminal Limited (TICT) in Lagos. They will enable the container terminal to support the growth in volumes of Nigeria, the leading country in the African economy.
TICT’s new mobile cranes, Konecranes Gottwald Model 7, will be equipped with a new generation power supply system that will significantly reduce CO2 emissions as well as energy consumption.
“The mobile cranes ordered for TICT under its investment program are helping to provide Nigeria with a quality port platform. As soon as they are delivered in August 2021, these eco-responsible mobile cranes will support the rise in import and export flows, “said Olivier De Noray, General Manager of port concessions at Bolloré Ports.
With a lifting capacity of 100 tons, the mobile cranes that will be deployed on the docks of Tincan Island in Lagos will allow to handle large capacity vessels and reduce vessel waiting times thanks to the improvement of the operational efficiency.
TICT, which has already made significant investments in infrastructure and port equipment, maintains its position as a benchmark terminal in the economic capital of Nigeria. Thanks to its connection to the metropolitan area and its industrial centers by highways and the development of inland waterways, TICT supports, thanks to its 625 Nigerian direct collaborators, the economic growth of Nigeria.
