Relief and hope are the feelings best shared by the women and other actors of the Yoff Fishing Pier following the opening of the DER / FJ nano-credit bureau this Thursday, May 27, 2021. The official launch ceremony of this nano-credit bureau took place under the chairmanship of the Minister Delegate General of the DER / FJ Mr. Papa Amadou Sarr, the Mayor of the Municipality of Yoff Mr. Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr and in the presence of the managers of the Yoff fishing wharf , beneficiaries, DER / FJ partners and the Pikine Fish Market Director.
The establishment of the nano-credit bureau is the result of a strong desire on the part of the DER / FJ to provide solutions adapted to its various targets. The women of Yoff Fishing Pier faced ruthless loan sharks who exploited their fragile condition. The latter embarked them in a vicious circle in which it was almost impossible for them to escape. The arrival of the DER / FJ nano-credit bureau in their workplace is a boon for them.
The Mayor of Yoff Mr. Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr, who is delighted with the opening of the nano-credit bureau at the Quai de Pêche, urged the DER / FJ to open several others in his commune. Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr asserts that “today the women and youth of Yoff will be actors who will seize this tremendous opportunity that is the DER / FJ. The DER / FJ has moved the lines in Senegal in terms of financing. I am one of the Mayors and development actors who can say today that the DER / FJ has solved a lot of problems. The issue of funding efficiency, funding security and the issue of proximity to nano-credit bureaus. ”
The principle of nanocredit is simple. Funding varies between 10,000 and 300,000 FCFA. The Commission is 5% (including 1% for the OPIP-> recovery support, 1% for the transaction costs of digital payments). Beneficiaries have the option of repaying partially, early or at maturity. In addition, beneficiaries who reach the nano credit ceiling and who have had a good score will automatically benefit from “empowerment” funding with terms varying between 6 months and 1 year.
As a reminder, the first nano-credit bureau of the DER / FJ was launched in June 2020 at the Pikine fish market and the pilot phase was satisfactory, so much so that the DER / FJ decided to duplicate this model of funding at the national level.
Indeed, the General Delegate of the DER / FJ Mr. Papa Amadou Sarr specified that to date, “1275 people, mainly women at the fish market in Pikine, have subscribed to this mode of financing of the DER / FJ. for a volume of loans of CFAF 917,475,000, with a repayment rate of 99% ”.
The Yoff Fishing Quay office is thus the second nano-credit office opened after that of the Pikine Fish Market. Offices will follow in Kaffrine, Kédougou, Tambacounda and hundreds of other places on the national territory, in accordance with the policy of proximity and territorialization of the interventions of the DER / FJ.
