For the protection of its cyberspace, Côte d’Ivoire has just adopted a National Cyber Security Strategy 2020 – 2025, revealed the Ivorian Minister of the Digital Economy, Telecommunications and Innovation, Roger Adom, at the opening of the Cyber Africa Forum held this Monday, June 7 in Abidjan.
According to Roger Adom, this new ambition of the government can be explained by the new impetus set in motion at the level of the policy to protect its cyberspace. “The vision of the State of Côte d’Ivoire in defining its strategy is to support the growth of the national economy by providing citizens and organizations with a secure cyberspace and trusted digital services, and become the regional leader in cybersecurity, ”said the Minister.
During the forum in which he took part, several speakers brought their experiences on the national and sub-regional cybersecurity strategy engaged in their respective countries, especially since African States are not immune to digital risks in a increasingly connected and interconnected world. They are, among others, the Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and the Digital Economy of Guinea, Said Oumar, the Director of the Digital Economy and the Post of ECOWAS, Dr Raphael Koffi, the Vice- Executive Chairman of Huawei Northern Africa, Philippe Wang, and Telecommunications and Information Technologies Commissioner of ECOWAS, Dr Zouli Bonkoungou. Discussions focused on the theme “Cyber risks at the heart of Africa’s challenges”.
