Jobs in the West African Monetary Union (WAMU) banking system stood at CFAF 41,460.7 billion (€ 62.191 billion) in 2020, according to the report by the Abidjan-based Banking Commission.

Customer loans, net of provisions, increased by 8.3% year-on-year, reaching CFAF 24,981.1 billion at the end of 2020. They are made up of short-term loans (51.5%), medium-term loans (39.2%), long-term loans (4.4%), finance leases13 19 (1.1%) and bad debts (3.8%).
Short-term loans amounted to CFAF 12,870.5 billion, up 9.7% year-on-year against a decline of 1.4% at the end of 2019. For their part, medium-term loans amounted to to CFAF 9,797.1 billion, up 9.0%, year on year against 32.1% in 2019.
As for long-term loans, they amounted to CFAF 1,094.3 billion, registering an increase of 7.2% in 2020 against 12.2% in 2019.
As far as they are concerned, finance lease operations reached CFAF 262 billion, growing by 14.2%, year on year, at the end of December 2020 against 39.0% a year earlier.
Officials from the Commission Bancaire report that the net bad debts amounted to CFAF 957.2 billion, a decline of 12.2% over the year 2020 against an increase of 2.2% in 2019.
The investment securities of the WAMU banking system amounted to CFAF 10,749.1 billion at the end of the period under review, an increase of CFAF 2,277.9 billion or 26.9% over the year. against 16.6% in 2019.
As for financial fixed assets, they are evaluated at 237.8 billion FCFA at the end of 2020, an increase of 10.4 billion (+ 4.6%). Other fixed assets stand at CFAF 4,301 billion in 2020, up, year on year, by 996.3 billion (+ 30.1%).
Regarding the various jobs, they increased by CFAF 178.2 billion (+ 17.6%) over the year to stand at CFAF 1,191.6 billion at the end of December 2020.
