Establishment of an operational entity in Ivory Coast under the name of Allianz Technology Africa (AZTA)
AZTA’s role will be to promote the sharing of Allianz’s technological assets with its entities in Africa
Allianz Africa thus aims to assert its technological leadership on the continent.
Present in Africa for over 100 years, Allianz, one of the world’s leading insurers and asset managers, is entering a new phase in its expansion on the continent with the launch of Allianz Technology’s activities in Africa.
Indeed, Allianz Technology Africa (AZTA) officially started its operations on the continent through the reconversion of an operational entity in Côte d’Ivoire, which thus becomes its operational hub.
AZTA will provide IT services exclusively to Allianz Africa operational entities. This launch is the result of a process initiated at the end of 2020 and many months of collaboration between Allianz Technology, Allianz SE as well as various departments within the Allianz Africa regional hub.
AZTA will strengthen the role of Allianz Africa’s IT teams and enable them to better support its transformation with greater added value for local entities.
“Our IT employees will have the opportunity to work with a larger community of experts, providing the entire Allianz group with services of excellence in terms of technology and innovation,” said Cécile Lebrun, Africa Program Lead at Allianz Technology.
Allianz Technology is Allianz’s global IT provider with more than 10,000 employees in 36 countries. The entity covers the entire spectrum of information systems and digitization: Large IT infrastructure projects, data centers, networks, security, application platforms, etc. in short, Allianz Technology provides complete solutions for Allianz to the digital age.
Alexander Heinrich, Head of Global System Integration in charge of Africa at Allianz Technology did not miss the opportunity to be in Abidjan to meet local teams and celebrate the launch of AZTA. He said, “The Allianz Technology family is delighted with this launch and anticipates further collaborations and achievements in providing Allianz entities in Africa with comprehensive IT solutions, in line with Allianz’s global digitization strategy.”
Considered as a major lever for the transformation of Allianz on the continent, AZTA is destined to become Allianz Africa’s instrument par excellence for innovating and offering simple insurance solutions adapted to its various markets.
For her part, Delphine Traoré, Regional CEO of Allianz Africa, explains: “While the insurance penetration rate on the continent is one of the lowest in the world, Africans are open to new technologies. With AZTA, we have a unique chance to offer them offers that will appeal to them ”, and to continue:“ We will also be able to better support the resilience of local economies by making protection solutions more accessible to Africans ”.
Allianz is today a leading insurer and investor in the key markets of the CIMA zone and enjoys a strong positioning in Morocco, Ivory Coast and Ghana.
Much like Allianz’s recent acquisitions in Nigeria, Morocco or East Africa, this new deployment reflects Allianz’s ambition to become a leader in key markets in Africa as well as its commitment to the continent.
