AGL Senegal, Senegal’s transport and logistics specialist, has just completed a major logistics operation for the “Sabodala Massawa” gold project, demonstrating its expertise and commitment to local development.
In June 2023, the company successfully completed a large-scale logistics operation, mobilizing its teams and using state-of-the-art equipment such as the 12L2F modular hydraulic trailer. For this shipment, 35 packages were unloaded at the port of Dakar, and delivered in perfect condition. These included 3 oversized engines, each weighing 100 tones, representing a major logistical challenge.
This major operation required coordination with various players, including the autonomous port, the national electricity company, road authorities, civil protection, and the gendarmerie. Thanks to its expertise in this field, AGL Senegal was able to carry out this delicate operation in strict compliance with environmental and safety standards.
To ensure that these parcels are transported intact, AGL Senegal has undertaken a major 20 km road upgrade between Sane Soutou and Bembou, as well as the rehabilitation of a 60 km track between Bembou and Sabodala. These initiatives will improve the connectivity of local populations with the country’s main economic zones.
“Our credo at AGL is to be at the heart of Africa’s transformations. At the national and sub-regional levels where we operate, we are committed to always having an impact on our community. That’s why, as part of the rehabilitation and repair of the road, we worked with a local company, ALT SA, which recruited several members of the surrounding communes to carry out the work“, said Mohamed Diop, AGL Regional Director for Atlantic Africa (Senegal, Mali, Mauritania, and Gambia). AGL Senegal is proud to contribute to the well-being of local populations by improving road infrastructure. By carrying out these renovation and rehabilitation works, AGL Senegal is strengthening its position as a preferred partner for future development projects in the sub-region.
