Dubai, United Arab Emirates, April 18, 2024 – At the Millenium Central Downtown Hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, members of The Africa Road Builders Selection Committee – Babacar NDIAYE Trophy announced the winners of the Grand Builder Super Prize – Babacar NDIAYE Trophy 2024.
This year, under the theme “QUALITY OF ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE AND AFRICA’S DEVELOPMENT,” the Committee carefully examined road infrastructure across the continent, based on various reports, including the 2024 report from the Media Network for Infrastructure and Finance in Africa (MIFA).
After deliberations, the Committee chose to award the Grand Builder Super Prize – Babacar NDIAYE Trophy 2024 to Presidents Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea and Denis Sassou-Nguesso, President of the Republic of Congo, “in recognition of their exemplary leadership and significant contributions to the development of road infrastructure in their respective countries,” according to the statement released on the occasion. The winners will receive their trophies at the Final Conference to be held in Nairobi, Kenya, on May 30, 2024, on the sidelines of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Annual Meetings. Additionally, the Committee awarded the 2024 Builders Trophies to SAFER in Togo, AGEROUTE and Porteo BTP in Côte d’Ivoire, as well as Rubis Asphalt.
In the previous edition, Malagasy Andry Rajoelina was awarded. The Babacar Ndiaye trophy pays tribute to one of the iconic presidents of the AfDB, Dr. Babacar NDIAYE, the architect of integration and transformation vectors that have given the pan-African institution its DNA.
