The Federation of Egyptian Insurance Companies is a non-profit organization established in 1953 by the Ministry of Finance to enhance the insurance sector in Egypt. Membership in the Federation is mandatory for all insurance companies operating in Egypt. The primary responsibility of the Federation is to provide its members and the Egyptian insurance sector with all the technical assistance they require. The Federation maintains close links with local, global, and international organizations to ensure that its members are kept informed of the latest updates in the sector worldwide. Currently, the Federation of Egyptian Insurance Companies has 39 members (life and non-life insurance companies).
Its goal is to raise the level of the insurance industry and related professions, foster competition, and promote scientific, cultural, and social ties between member companies, the General Authority for Financial Control, and other government agencies and NGOs active in the insurance sector both domestically and internationally. It also works to examine the technical basis of pricing and compensation.
