The Institut Interafricain de Formation en Assurance et en Gestion des Entreprises (IFAGE), a private higher education institute specializing in Insurance and Actuarial Science in the CIMA zone (Inter-African Conference of Insurance Markets), was approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research under No. 139/MESR/DC/DGES/DESP/DSQ/FL of July 23, 2012 to deliver Licences (Bac+3) and professional Masters (Bac+5). Our institute is a pioneer in the field of actuarial and insurance training in French-speaking Africa.
IFAGE was founded by an insurance professional, Mr Mandaw KANDJI, former Head of the Research, Regulation and Training Division of the Insurance Department of the Senegalese Ministry of Economy and Finance, and former Chief Insurance Commissioner at the Inter-African Conference on Insurance Markets (CIMA).
IFAGE’s mission is to contribute to the development of the insurance markets of member countries of the Inter-African Conference on Insurance Markets (CIMA) and of the Federation of African National Insurance Companies (FANAF), through initial and continuing training leading to a diploma.
In 2011, IFAGE signed a double-diploma agreement with the Ecole Supérieure des Assurances (ESA) in Paris, enhancing its international recognition and reinforcing the quality of its teaching: the award of the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees by IFAGE automatically entails the award of the Bachelor’s and MBA degrees by ESA. Another agreement has been signed with the Ecole Supérieure d’Ingénieurs Léonard de Vinci for the organization of exchange programs for students in the Actuarial program, as well as another partnership with the West African Insurance Institute (IAEO – WAII), an institution with full diplomatic status based in Banjul, Gambia.
To diversify its training offer, the institute has launched new programs in line with the needs of players in the financial sector. These include innovative programs such as Actuarial Science, Data Science and Financial Analysis.
In 2013, after five years of operation, the institute obtained unreserved recognition of its Professional Insurance License diploma by the Conseil Africain et Malgache pour l’Enseignement Supérieur (CAMES).
In 2016, the Master Professionnel en Assurance program was accredited by the Autorité Nationale d’Assurance Qualité de l’Enseignement Supérieur (ANAQ-SUP).
In 2017, institutional accreditation was granted by letter n°RepSEN/Ensup-priv/HA/011-2017 from the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research. The habilitation issued by the Autorité Nationale d’Assurance Qualité de l’Enseignement Supérieur (ANAQ-SUP) enables the institute’s Managing Director to sign off directly on all Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees awarded. As a result, IFAGE was one of the first private training institutes to obtain this accreditation.
As part of the development of its research hub, in 2017 the institute also forged a partnership with Gaston Berger University, enabling it to project the opening of a doctoral school.
In 2018, the institute was elected a full member of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF).
In 2020, the institute obtained recognition of its Professional Master’s degree in Insurance by the Conseil Africain et Malgache pour l’Enseignement Supérieur (CAMES).
In 2021, the institute obtained renewed accreditation of its Licence Professionnelle en Assurance diploma from the Autorité Nationale d’Assurance Qualité de l’Enseignement Supérieur, de la Recherche et de l’Innovation (ANAQ-SUP).
In the same year (2021), IFAGE’s continuing education department was accredited by the Fonds de Financement de la Formation Professionnelle et Technique (3FPT).
