The Simandou Strategic Committee

The Simandou Strategic Committee is an essential entity established to oversee and coordinate efforts related to the Simandou project, the largest untapped iron ore deposit to date. This committee plays a crucial role in organizing and managing the various initiatives and partnerships surrounding this globally significant project.

Missions of the Simandou Strategic Committee:

1. Coordination of stakeholders: The committee works closely with the various actors involved in the project, including the Guinean state, industrial partners such as Winning Consortium Simandou, Baowu Steel Group, and Rio Tinto. The goal is to ensure effective synergy between these entities for the co-development of the Simandou railway and port infrastructure.
2. Infrastructure management: Overseeing the creation and development of the Compagnie du TransGuinéen (CTG S.A), the joint infrastructure company responsible for constructing and managing the crucial railway and port infrastructure for the Simandou deposit.
3. Monitoring project progress: Regularly evaluating and reporting on the progress made in infrastructure construction and various project phases. Ensuring transparency and efficiency in the execution of work.
4. Event organization: Organizing forums, conferences, and meetings to celebrate key milestones of the project and to enable stakeholders to exchange ideas, expectations, and economic perspectives. The event celebrating the second anniversary of the Compagnie du TransGuinéen is a prime example.

Committee Composition: The committee comprises high-level representatives from the Guinean government and members from key partner companies. It also includes technical and financial experts specializing in mining and infrastructural development.

Forum for the Second Anniversary of the Compagnie du TransGuinéen: The event, to be held on July 29-30, 2024, in Conakry, will mark a significant milestone in the development of the Simandou project. It will allow:
