Kinshasa: The 10th edition of the MAKUTANO Business Forum
Kinshasa, August 13, 2024 – The 10th edition of the Business Forum MAKUTANO, Central Africa’s leading business network, will take place from November 13 to 15, 2024, at various locations in Kinshasa, under the theme “The New Deal.”
The Business Forum Makutano has established itself as a must-attend event in the sub-region. Originally created with the primary goal of fostering trust and renewed dialogue between private sector actors and public decision-makers in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Forum has, over the past ten years, become the key gathering for those who are driving change.
This tenth anniversary edition, themed “The New Deal,” will bring together over 1,000 prominent figures, including H.E. Félix-Antoine TSHISEKEDI TSHILOMBO, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, public decision-makers, private sector leaders, and civil society leaders. Together, they will work on co-creating innovative and sustainable solutions to address the current and future challenges of a rapidly changing world.

The New Deal for a Prosperous Africa: Concrete Action for the Democratic Republic of Congo and Africa
The Democratic Republic of Congo is a true concentration of Africa’s wealth and challenges, making it a key player in transforming the regional economy and addressing Africa’s global challenges.
To invent its own economic model and strengthen its global influence, a New Deal between Entrepreneurs, Public Actors, and Investors is essential to take concrete action on the enhancement of raw materials, agribusiness, major infrastructure projects, energy, subcontracting, supply chain organization, innovation & technology, development financing, as well as youth, education, sports, art, culture, and heritage. In response to current urgencies, critical issues such as climate change, food security, and the rise of artificial intelligence will be discussed.
By inviting the key players of the DRC and sub-regional economic ecosystem to engage in dialogue, share their expertise and knowledge, forge innovative partnerships, and define new frameworks for action, Makutano places African leadership at the center of the development equation, holding local and regional champions accountable.
Business Forum Makutano: A Decade of Leadership and Innovation – November 13-15
This special edition will be organized around four main formats:
- Conferences on sectoral issues (Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Transition, Innovations and Technologies, Agro-industry, Finance, etc.) or cross-cutting themes (Women & Innovation, Mineral Traceability, etc.), discussed in plenary sessions or workshops to produce concrete deliverables.
- On-site debates (e.g., the debate on agro-industry will take place in a partner’s plantations in South Ubangi, or the economic debate, co-organized with Manssah, will be held at a local university).
- Networking sessions (side events in honor of Guinea, cocktail receptions, gala dinners, etc.) to discuss business matters in a more convivial setting.
- Thematic “Houses” will be deployed at various partner locations of the Forum to facilitate exchanges on major issues in the Energy, Innovation & Technology, and Agro-industry sectors, as well as on the impact of women in development.
