The 2024 edition of the AllAfrica Media Leaders Summit will be held in Nairobi, Kenya, from May 8 to 10, 2024, under the theme: Rethinking Africa’s Media in a Period of Profound Change.
The aim of this important meeting is to address the critical role of the media in economic growth, social progress and improved democratic governance in Africa.
Peace, security and accountable, effective governance cannot thrive without fair, accurate and reliable communication in this transformative digital age.
The Summit will be structured in the form of conferences, round tables, open discussions, workshops and networking platforms and events.
The Summit agenda will be structured around 6 key pillars:
Africa’s economic transformation
AI, technology and digitization
Regional integration and peace-building
Disinformation and infox campaigns
Governance, standards and capacity building
Creating sustainable business models
In addition, there will be a Youth Challenge, a competition designed to develop innovations for the newsrooms of the future, and a public debate by young citizens. Finally, the AllAfrica Awards for Media Excellence will also be presented at the Summit.
No participation fees will be charged to the continent’s media.
